Best known for his excellent work with the Ubuntu Weekly News,The Fridge, the LoCo Council and the Bug Squad, Nick Ali has the added side-benefit of inspiring the Ubuntu community to do interesting things.

Fairly quiet, somewhat fond of cigars, and always committed to Ubuntu, Nick who is also known as boredandblogging on IRC, has always been a consistent force as Ubuntu has grown and moved forward. His input in the community has spread across a range of teams and Launchpad tellsus of the full extent of his involvement in the Georgia LoCo, Launchpad Beta Testers, Loco Hosting Admins, Ubuntu BugSquad, Ubuntu cloaked people on freenode, Ubuntu Fridge Editors, Ubuntu LoCo Council, Ubuntu LoCo Enthusiasts, Ubuntu Marketing Team, Ubuntu Members, Ubuntu Microblogging, Ubuntu Weekly Newsletter, ubuntu-news as well as his indirect involvement in the Loco Hosting, Mailing List Beta Testers, OpenID testers, Planet Ubuntu and US Teams Project teams. Nick has also recently been involved in helping to revive a Linuxfest in the Atlanta area in Georgia, USA, and also stars in a video podcast about Ubuntu at ubuntupodcast.net.

But being a member of these teams is only part of what Nick brings to Ubuntu - he is always a bright and responsive member of the Ubuntu community, and always a pleasure to work with. Present at the Ubuntu Developer Summit in Prague, Nick was a consistent source of feedback and calm and reasoned opinion in the wide variety of sessions and topics discussed. His contributions are impressive and inspiring, and he is a credit to Ubuntu. With this in mind, we felt he was an apt choice for this first Featured Contributor article. Congratulations Nick!
